Our Little Yogi

Sophia Marie Boyne entered the world on 9/13/2010 at 5:11am weighing in at a whopping 8lbs 9oz and 19.5inches long. I started labor early Sunday morning (Sophie was 5 days past her due date at this time) at about 2am but was feeling fine nothing I couldn't handle just felt like slight menstrual cramps. I called Steve who was just about to get off from work and told him not to rush that this was going to be a long process but of course he rushed right home. We had been joking all week that she would come when he finished his "long" (44hr) work week at 2am and sure enough that's what she decided to do. I noticed a few hours later that they were getting closer together so I decided to call my mom and have her come over. The contractions weren't consistent and weren't getting much stronger so at about 10am Mom and I decided to go for a walk. When this walk still didn't get things started we decided to get showered and dressed and go have a late breakfast at one of our favorite spots Bon Jour Cafe in Dana Point. I was able to take a long nap in the afternoon and just relax the contractions seemed to have slowed down and still were not that painful. At around 8pm I jumped in the bath to relax and by 8:30pm it was go time. We called Dr. James and headed to the hospital. We arrived at 9pm and discovered that I was 3cm dilated and was going to be admitted and get an epidural. We were overjoyed that Sophie was on her way and decided to come on her own since I was scheduled to be induced in 48 hours. I was very fortunate that by 2:30am I was fully dilated and ready to push. Two and half hours of pushing and some maneuvering of Sophie's head by Dr. James Sophia Marie Boyne enters the world at 5:11am weighing in at 8lbs 9oz 19.5 inches long.
We are so blessed to have this little gift from heaven she is truly a blessing and has changed our lives forever. I never thought I could love someone as much as I love her (besides my husband of course). Being a mom is something that I always knew I wanted but never really understood until the doctor put her in my arms. At that moment I knew I would never be the same. Steve and I are so happy and thank all of you for the love and support you have given us these past few weeks. The sleepless nights and hours of painful breastfeeding are all worth every minute just to be called Sophie's Mom and Dad. We love you so much Sophie and can't wait to see you flourish and grow. Every moment I spend with you my heart grows. Mommy and Daddy love you so much and thank you for choosing us as your parents.
